Deutsch Los Angeles is seeking an AEM Developer to join our growing digital team.  You will work with a dynamic team of creative technologists pushing digital boundaries for clients including VW, Taco Bell, and Target.  


The AEM Developer position is recognized as a subject matter expert.  AEM component and template development, creating OSGi bundles and services, and server setup are considered key responsibilities of this role.  The AEM Developer is responsible for assisting front end and other back end developers with integrating their code into the AEM platform.  In addition to implementing AEM solutions, ideal candidates will possess a passion for building Don’t Repeat Yourself (DRY) solutions and upholding an uncompromised level of quality across each engagement.  


Ideal candidates must be willing to assume a wide array of responsibilities as needed to meet and exceed the expectations of Deutsch’s clients.  


• Analysis, development, and implementation of AEM on multiple client projects (70%)

o AEM development and unit testing

o Server setup, AEM installation and deployment

o Collaboration with front end and back end resources

o Translate business needs into technical objectives

o Collaborate on project schedules, milestones and budgets

o Oversee the creation of technical requirements documentation

o Risk management

o Attend and contribute to client meetings

• Manage systems and processes for projects (20%)

o Conduct ongoing audits of systems to identify issues and opportunities for enhancements

o Implement systems for improving process and reliability of managed projects

o Set up hardware and software monitoring systems

o Performance analysis and reporting

• Collaborate with the Technology and Creative to create prototypes with new technologies (10%):

o Create software and hardware prototypes in a group setting

o Experiment with new technologies and platforms

o Participate in Hack-a-thons and Tech Challenges

o Present prototypes and emerging technologies internally and at events

• Performs other reasonable and relevant activities and functions as requested and required



• Education:  BA, BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar area 

• Experience:  

o 3-5 years of experience in Java

o 3+ years of experience in CQ5/AEM6

• Skills: 

o Experience working with and extending the CQ5/AEM6 platform

o Strong development experience: Java, Servlets, JSP, and SQL

o Ability to support front end code implementation including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, etc.

o Experience designing databases: SQLServer, Postgre SQL, MySQL, CRX, JackRabbit, etc

o Server management experience: Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS

o Version control experience: SVN, Git, etc

o Maven experience

o Setting up and refining continuous integrations systems including Jenkins

o Test Driven Development and Refactoring

o Strong Object Oriented Analysis and Design Experience

o Demonstrated ability to balance workload of multiple projects simultaneously

o Demonstrated ability to oversee quality control

o Strong written and oral communication skills
