Associate Media Director

Deutsch LA is seeking a motivated and passionate integrated Associate Media Director to collaborate on the development of media and other communication plans that will achieve client’s media objectives. The successful candidate must be able to develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of their clients’ business and ensure that all client media requirements are executed in a timely and accurate manner. The ideal candidate will be passionate around an outdoor, adventure lifestyle.


  • Minimum of seven years of experience in media planning
  • High level of competency in account management and client service
  • Experience in managing and leading a team
  • A thorough understanding of marketing communication channels (online and offline)
  • Experience in a wide variety of creative formats and knowledge across all online environments, including search, social and programmatic
  • Local planning and buying experience based on detailed audience segmentation across digital, radio, print (magazines and newspaper), and OOH
  • Understanding of measurement and reporting solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical, strategic thinking
  • Strong knowledge of and skill using syndicated interactive research applications and ad serving
  • Bachelor’s degree (Communications, Advertising, Media or related field preferred)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build sound strategic frameworks that ladder up to client business goals and use media research
  • Use data to understand local inputs, identify appropriate local vs feeder audiences, and differentiate across properties
  • Bring proactivity and leadership to the clients and team while being the main client contact
  • Manage the flow of client media-related issues based on changes in direction, goals, and budgets. Be aware of the need to create solutions and resolve problems
  • Maintain budget control and ensure execution of media plans by authorizing approved media schedules and monitoring buys/schedules
  • Effective communication and oversight of in house and external buying teams to ensure brand needs are met
  • Foster a good working relationship across numerous brand clients and creative teams to facilitate flawless execution
  • Collaborate closely with corresponding Business Intelligence/Analytics partner
  • Maintain good rapport with sales representatives and vendors
  • Deliver POVs/position papers on key client issues and/or client opportunities
  • Must be organized and be able to handle complex account infrastructure
  • Manage, mentor and motivate direct reports in order to encourage their professional development while providing daily supervision and guidance
  • Working knowledge of media-related and other basic technology packages
  • Provide excellent client service by being responsive, accountable and detail-oriented
